# Privacy Policy

Last updated July 27, 2026.

Pebble Reef is a calm aquarium app available for Mac, with an iPad version in development. This policy explains how Pebble Reef by Devon Allary ("Pebble Reef", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Pebble Reef app, website, support, and related services.

## Summary

- Pebble Reef does not require a Pebble Reef account.
- Pebble Reef does not sell personal information.
- Pebble Reef does not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the app or on the website.
- Aquarium progress and settings are stored locally on your device.
- If you join the iPad waitlist, we store the email address you submit so we can send iPad launch and occasional progress updates.
- In-app purchases are processed only by Apple through the App Store. Pebble Reef does not use a web checkout.

## Information stored on your device

Pebble Reef stores app data locally so the aquarium can work between sessions. This can include your aquarium state, fish names, progress, owned items, shop unlock state, settings, window placement on Mac, a local anonymous profile identifier, a local install identifier, installed content records, and local diagnostic logs.

The app may store an install secret in your device Keychain to protect locally installed content. This information is used for app functionality and is not used for advertising.

If you enable an Apple service such as iCloud backup or sync for app data, Apple may process that data under Apple's terms and privacy policy.

## Purchases

Pebble Reef is distributed through the Apple App Store. App downloads, in-app purchases, billing, payment methods, and refund requests are handled by Apple under [Apple's terms and privacy policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). We do not receive your payment card number or Apple Account password.

Pebble Reef uses StoreKit to request localized product information, complete purchases, verify purchase status, and restore purchases. StoreKit provides the app with transaction information needed for those purposes, such as the product identifier and signed purchase or entitlement status. Pebble Reef uses that information only to provide and restore the content you bought. The app records the resulting entitlement state locally so unlocked content stays available in your aquarium.

## Website and hosted content

Pebble Reef uses [Firebase Hosting](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy), operated by Google, to provide the website, content catalog, support pages, and related app content. When your browser or the app requests a page, catalog, or file, the hosting provider may receive ordinary technical information such as your IP address, browser or device details, requested URL, request time, and server log data. The app's catalog request also identifies why it is refreshing, such as app launch or opening the shop; it does not include your aquarium state, fish names, local profile identifier, or local install identifier.

This technical information is used to deliver the requested page or file, keep the service secure, troubleshoot errors, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability. Pebble Reef does not use website analytics, advertising pixels, or advertising cookies.

## iPad waitlist

If you join the Pebble Reef iPad waitlist, we collect the email address you submit, the signup source (such as the homepage), and the signup time. We use this information to send the iPad launch announcement and occasional Pebble Reef progress updates. Duplicate submissions are recognized using a one-way identifier derived from the normalized email address. The waitlist is stored in Google Firebase Firestore and submissions are handled by Firebase Cloud Functions.

You can ask to be removed from the waitlist at any time by emailing support@pebblereef.app from the address you joined with.

## Support messages

If you email support, we collect the email address and information you choose to send, such as your platform, app version, screenshots, logs, or a description of the issue. We use support messages to respond to you, troubleshoot problems, and improve Pebble Reef.

## What we share

We disclose information only as needed for the services described in this policy, including:

- Apple, for App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, refunds, and Apple platform services.
- Google Firebase and its infrastructure providers, for website hosting, content delivery, logs, security, and operations.
- Service providers that help us answer support requests or operate Pebble Reef.
- Authorities or other parties if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to prevent abuse.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We require service providers that process personal information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law and to use it only to provide their services to us.

## Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the limited information we handle. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

## Retention and deletion

Local aquarium data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, or remove the app and its local data. iPad waitlist information is kept until iPad launch updates are no longer needed or you ask us to delete it. Support messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain necessary business records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations, and are then deleted or anonymized where appropriate. Pebble Reef does not keep a separate copy of routine website access logs; hosting providers retain technical logs under their operational settings and legal obligations.

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of support messages or other personal information we control by emailing support@pebblereef.app. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We cannot access or delete local app data that remains only on your device, or App Store purchase records controlled by Apple. You can manage Apple Account and purchase information through Apple.

## Your choices and privacy rights

- You can use the app without creating a Pebble Reef account.
- You can choose not to join the iPad waitlist, and you can ask us to remove your waitlist email at any time.
- You can choose not to send support emails or optional diagnostic details.
- You can restore App Store purchases from inside the app using Apple's StoreKit flow.
- You can delete local app data from your device if you no longer want Pebble Reef to store it locally.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we control, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or challenge our privacy practices. Contact us to exercise those rights. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already lawfully completed.

## Children

Pebble Reef is not directed to children under 13 and is not submitted as a Kids Category app. If you believe a child sent us personal information through support, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

## International use

Pebble Reef and its service providers may process information in countries where we or those providers operate. Privacy laws may differ from those in your location.

## Changes

We may update this policy as Pebble Reef changes. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
